As the lead co-op student ambassador with McMaster's Engineering Co-op and Career Services (ECCS) I am in charge of planning and directing various events on campus for engineering students with the goal of helping them become the ideal co-op candidates for employers. For example, I have run info-booths, help sessions, resume critiques, and provided one-on-one guidance both with my team of student ambassadors and independently.In addition to guidance and event planning, it is my responsibilty to help manage a diverse and ever-growing team of (4-6) student ambassadors in our journey to support McMaster's engineering student body in their transition from becoming students to the ideal intern in the workplace!

It has been a great pleasure working under the Region of Durham's Works Department over the summer of 2024. During my time with them I completed daily field inspections of a watermain installation and repair project. Throughout these inspections I wrote daily field notes and ensured compliance with regional engineering standards with the following procedures and installations: - Installation of CPP & PVC watermain - Fire hydrants - Horizontal directional drilling - Valve chambers - Watermain live-taps & line-stopsFurthermore, I had the opportunity to draft monthly payment schedules. This involved cross-referencing as-built data with contract and engineering drawings to help facilitate contractor payments. Finally, I learnt the procedures in completing soil compaction tests, concrete slump & air void tests, and more. My time at Durham Region has taught me an immense amount of information on contract management, engineering standards, and on-site inspections/testing that I hope to apply in my future employment.

As a student Civil Designer at MTE Consultants in Burlington I get to work with a technically diverse team to design, improve, and propose stormwater and sewer management plans to various clients and stakeholders. This includes designing grading and servicing plans, in addition to writing functional servicing reports, salt management reports, and stormwater management reports. I have had the opportunity to use Autocad Civil 3D and architectural/surveying plans to develop stormwater management designs for a number of commercial, industrial, and residential properties. This includes establishing appropriate grading, suggesting culvert/drain placement, and accomodating our client's changing needs. Additionally, I have referenced manuals, provincial, and municipal design standards to provide projective modelling of stormwater and sewer production rates - then designed systems to accomodate those values.Being able to drive by the properties I have helped develop in nearby communities is such a pleasure and has really taught me the importance of creating accessible and sustainable designs in addition to showing me the real people behind the work I do. I have learnt a great deal working here at MTE and I am looking forward to learning more in the future!

Working as a Community Advisor with McMaster's Housing and Conference Services has given me many opportunities to make a difference in my local student community. This includes providing mental health support and academic guidance to first-year students living in residence. I regularly collaborate with administration staff and a team of over 20 co-CAs to deliver programs and advice to students. Additionally, I am in charge of facillitating conflict resolutions and regularly hosting meetings. I also prepate reports on residence expenses, event planning, and facility inspection results.I hope to continue with the position throughout my student career at McMaster. Working as a CA has been a very positive experience so far and I have learnt a great deal about regularly communicating in a team, staying organized, providing student guidance, and drafting reports.

While working as a transportation technician for the MTO I patrolled highways to identify maintenance defects and collected information related to road conditions and supporting infrastructure. Additionally, I collected and analyzed data, documented activities, and drafted reports. This was done with MS Office programs and GIS software. I collaborated with a large multi-disciplinary team of five other members to propose reports on solutions to correcting damaged transportation infrastructure.Working for the MTO was a very positive experience to me and made me very passionate about working in the transportation and geological aspects of civil engineering!
