My role includes applying component assessment techniques to support both steam and gas turbine operations, whilst delivering a site inspection, testing and analysis service to assess and remedy component degradation. Key Responsibilities- Responsibilities extend across turbine blades and vanes, rotors, casings, boiler headers and tubes, and auxiliary plant items, giving impact on every area of operations.- Involved with metallurgical failure investigations, structural integrity assessments, remnant creep life assessments, safety cases for continued operation of plant and materials testing and advice for RWE npower and third party plant.- Work with a range of both RWE npower facilities (both power stations and our own workshops) as well as plant manufacturers/maintenance outfits.- Recently been involved in projects re-engineering gas turbine combustion components and validating new materials for compressor diaphragms, as well as several failure investigations into gas turbine blade failures.
