This former sports reporter made a successful transition to labor communications more than eight years ago. I worked in the newspaper industry for nearly 25 years before joining the media department at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Washington, D.C. I write for the IBEW's 820,000 members and retirees throughout the United States and Canada. During my journalism career, I served as vice president of the Indianapolis Newspaper Guild [Communications Workers of America Local 34070] and on the negotiating committee during collective bargaining negotiations with parent company Gannett. Here in Washington, I participate in the March of Dimes' March for Babies and the D.C. Labor Council's Bowling for Gold to support working families. I volunteer with local and national charities and am studying at the Student Acting Conservatory.
