I was in charge of the programming and engineering departments and the day-to-day Program Director for WGH-FM. During that time, we began a studio conversion from analog (infrastructure) to audio over IP, addressed Neilsen encoding issues and audio processing for the FM stations, and addressed Neilsen encoding and audio processing for the audio streams. A new PM Sports Talk program was created for our ESPN affiliate. Our AM switched from Financial Talk to Fox Sports. WVBW changed formats from CHR to Urban AC. The radio stations are WGH-AM - Fox Sports 1310, WGH-FM - 97.3 The Eagle, WVBW-FM - 100.5 The Vibe, WVSP-FM -Priority Auto Sports Radio 94.1, and WTWV-FM - 92.9 The Wave.

I managed a cluster of 4 radio stations formerly owned by Max Radio of the Carolinas. I guided the team through the transition to the new company. Along with my other roles in the station cluster, for 14 years I co-hosted a morning radio show on WCXL-FM - Beach 104, the "Moose & Jody Show. This was the most listened to radio program in the region.

I managed a cluster of 5 to 8 radio stations and an internet news site, The Outer Banks Voice, in North-East North Carolina and on the Outer Banks. From 2003 through 2006 the team I assembled increased revenue on our first four radio stations 130%. During the recession, we were able to retain 80% of the revenue which still represented a 100% growth from the point of purchase. By consolidating the staff and out-sourcing our back-office functions, I was able to retain an acceptable cash flow for the company. I assisted in the negotiations of the purchase/LMA of 4 additional stations to bring our cluster size to 8. I lead the negotiations to sell one of those stations to reduce our expenses. I have also assisted other radio station clusters in our company with management training/guidance and sales training. I also seek and negotiate leases for tower space.

The management team was a quick fix as the GM and SM candidates were quickly identified and already on the staff. The consolidation was painless yet effective in reducing expenses. The new management team, now focused on sales, exceeded their goals.

I assumed the General Manager position of the Max Media cluster known as River Valley Radio. This cluster was stagnating due to the previous manager's inability to make any decision, about nearly anything. This role was temporary I was still managing my North Carolina cluster. My goal was to get the cluster back on track while searching for, then training, a permanent General Manager. I was able to quickly re-focus the sales staff and tighten up the programming of the seven stations in the cluster. I also promptly identified a qualified manager who was already on our team. By conservative estimate, this cluster was able to secure 75% of the available radio ad revenue in a market where our main competitor also had seven radio stations.

Cluster seller for the Entercom cluster of radio stations. I began in radio sales at WWDE-FM but was quickly elevated to cluster seller, one of six such sellers in a sales staff of twenty-five. Along with 2WD I also represented WPTE - 94.9 The Point, WNVZ - Z104, and 95-7 RnB - WVKL.

Norfolk, Virginia Area

I was first Program Director for WFOG-FM. At the time it was a Soft-AC formatted station with respectable Arbitron ratings. Improvements were made in the musical focus of the station and with the performance of the air personalities. Lite 92.9 achieved the highest Arbitron ratings in the station's history under my direction. During 1997 I also added/resumed my duties as Program Director of WMQX-FM in Greensboro, NC. In 1998 WFOG was swapped by ownership for WVKL-FM, Kool 95.7. I was named Program Director/Morning Co-Host of the station. Under the previous owners, Kool 95.7 was extremely unfocused musically with personalities who did not connect with the intended audience. By changing the music rotation and focus, and replacing the air talent with better performers, Kool 95.7 was consistently a top 3 rated station in its target Arbitron demo of 35-54 adults. The "Randy and Moose Morning Show" was also a consistent top 3 performer.

Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina Area

I was Program Director of WMQX-FM, Oldies 93. I was also the Afternoon Air Personality. I transformed an under-performing radio station into a consistent Arbitron top 5 performer, 25-54 adults, and always top 3 35-54. Better ratings allowed for significantly increased revenue in a highly competitive market.

Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area

I was the Evening Air Personality for WTRG-FM for the first six months, then Mid-Day Air Personality for Oldies 100.7. In addition, I was the Music Director beginning in 1991, Assistant Program Director starting in 1993. For all of 1992 and 1993, I had the highest Arbitron rated show on the station and was never out of the top 3 25-54 adults in the market.
