“What if this doesn’t work?” I hear that from every patient I treat who doesn’t achieve remission from their depression. As a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Coordinator at APP Health Group, I’ve treated nearly 50 patients with severe, treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Many of them improved, and their depression went into remission for a year or even more. But there are many other patients who continue to suffer from debilitating depression. It’s those patients that push me toward research, because there is so much more work to do. I’m interested in researching early life stress in childhood and its effect on future mental health. I’m motivated to learn more about how psychopathology develops and how this knowledge can help us treat mental illness before it becomes severe as well as when it is already severe. I believe the answer to these questions can help change the way we treat mental illness in the future. I’ve worked at APP Health Group for over three years, treating patients with TMS and Spravato (esketamine) as well as managing the office. And most recently, I’m completing a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Teacher’s College, Columbia University while working as a research assistant in the Regulation of Emotion in Anxiety and Depression (READ) lab. I’ve gained clinical skills treating and interacting with patients suffering from severe mental illness. I’ve learned advanced research methods and statistics as well as psychophysiological measures, clinical interviewing, and electroencephalogram (EEG). Additionally, I helped create an entire active control group for my lab’s randomized controlled trial (RCT). I am passionate about my research interests and improving future psychological treatments through research. That’s why I’m currently looking for research coordinator and research assistant positions examining early life stress and its effect on mental health. Specialties: Research skills, Patient care, Managing, Creativity, Statistics, Psychophysiological measures, Clinical Interviewing, electroencephalogram (EEG), Qualtrics, recruitment
