The suite of enhanced applications on distributed client server environments provided state-of-the-art financial advising tools for over 12,000 Ameriprise financial advisers. From September 2004 to April 2007 for the Sprint/Nextel company managed a team of over 200 Developers, Team Leads and Service Delivery Managers responsible for application development, enhancement and maintenance activities in an application delivery outsourcing contract. Primary responsibilities included maintaining client satisfaction, application delivery, forecasting, budgeting and transitioning work to remote delivery centers in India and Brazil. Directed 40K hour project to create an engineering workflow application. Successfully completed all project phases: design, development, test plans, system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT). From February 2001 to August 2004 directed a team of 30 Information Technology professionals maintaining and enhancing five complex computer applications at Cable & Wireless Inc. (CWI). Directed the enhancement of the CWI Circuit Order and Provisioning System. The enhancement gave the customer the ability to modify their provisioning orders instead of submitting trouble ticket requests to IBM. The project saved CWI approximately $50K over the first 12 months.

While managing the application development department, received a Project Management appointment from the Cable & Wireless Chief Information Officer to build computer interfaces, install hardware and implement an off-the-shelf software package to create a local telephone service billing system. The project budget was $2M, delivered the system within budget and before the due date. The new application used COBOL II, MVS JCL, ADABAS, NATURAL2, DEC Alpha COBOL and DCL. Used MS project to create work breakdown structure to ensure all tasks were completed and on time. Managed a $300K project to enhance the Long Distance Call Record mediation computer programs. Wrote a Request for Proposal document describing the requirements and distributed to computer software companies, inviting them to bid on the proposal. C&W signed a contract with an offshore vendor. The vendor created the design and computer code offshore. The vendor performed the testing and implementation on site. Managed the project by working with the vendor’s technical representative and other on-site consultants. The enhanced software was delivered on schedule with a final cost of $290K.

From September 1983 through July 1989 directed a team of 15 civil service computer scientists, a 3 person secretarial pool, and a $200K annual computer service general support contract for the Defense Communications Agency (DCA). As a Senior Analysts/Programmer, wrote programs in COBOL, JCL and NATURAL2 accessing and updating ADABAS database files on an IBM mainframe. Opened the first computer Help Desk for the DCA that supported 200 engineers, computer scientists and administrative staff. Developed a menu driven interface with office automation packages available on the UNIX operating system. Used C programming language on the VAX11/780 computer to create the interface. Taught a class in IBM Interactivity System Productivity Facility (ISPF) to the DCA computer scientists. Position required a Top Secret clearance.From August 1979 to August 1983 created reports using COBOL and PL/1 computer languages on an IBM mainframe computer at the Strategic Air Command (SAC) Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. The SAC Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff (JSTPS) used the report data to order classified missions for reconnaissance satellites and high altitude reconnaissance aircraft. Additionally the JSTPS used the report data to target nuclear weapons under control of the United States military services and the countries who were members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Position required a Top Secret CSI clearance.Enlisted in the Air Force in February 1969. Served in various locations throughout the United States through August 1979. Selected to the Airman Education & Commissioning Program in May 1978. Completed the commissioning program and graduated from the Air Force Officer Training School with Honors in August 1979.
