Hello! My name is Mike Tobin. I was born in New York, and I am the youngest of six children (four brothers and one sister). My father worked as a police officer in New York City in the Police Department, and he decided early on in his career that once he retired from the NYPD he would move to Arizona, so we came here when I was a kid. The Phoenix area was quite different then, and I have seen things change a lot since the early 80’s! I was always interested in television and went to Scottsdale Community College for their Motion Picture and Television program degree. Fast forward a few years-- I was hired at CableRep which became Cox Media, and after about two years in the traffic department I joined the Master Control team. Soon after I was able to join our production crew on live sporting events such as high school sports as well as many other community service programs. My favorite part of doing Live events is the fact that anything could happen at any time and you need to be prepared for it, it's quite the adrenaline rush! In 2016 when Cox centralized all Master Control duties and moved them to Phoenix, I could no longer work the production trucks like in the past and was mainly in the office getting the signals on air and running the local breaks. I worked most every weekend and some late nights as well, depending on live events in many of our markets. It was always a rewarding and satisfying job but after 22 years I was ready to change what I was doing and spend more time with my wife, Wendy, and daughter, Katy. When I started with Cox back in 2000, I was looking for a new career but found the love of my life as well! Yes, I met my wife at work and after several months of getting to know her, I asked her out and we have been together ever since. Our daughter is 16 and is starting her junior year at McClintock High School in Tempe. Katy is very interested in learning more about live theater (behind the scenes) and is involved in technical theater at her school. We have been going to many local plays and it really is enjoyable to help support local artists. In my free time I like to listen to music while walking and enjoy escaping to Sedona whenever possible. I also enjoy photography and love going to the Desert Botanical Garden when it's not too hot.has context menu
