Michael Treacy is a recovering person with 41 years of continuous active recovery. As a result of my decision to address my own mental health issues, my life has changed and afforded me opportunities that once seemed unimaginable. I have extensive background and knowledge of Complex Behavioral Health Diagnosis and Medication Management, Substance Abuse, including Medically Assisted Detox/Treatment. My approach to recovery is simple. I believe everyone must craft and design their own program of recovery and lifestyle that works for them. I perceive my recovery role as a patient, kind, supportive, and an educational companion. Adult Behavioral Health Having worked as a Personal Recovery Assistant/Safe Passage/Sober Companion beginning in 2011, successfully completing over 100 assignments ranging from 1 to 60 days.Personal Recovery Assistant (PRA): For clients leaving a Residential Treatment setting, the clients clinical post “Treatment Plan” is used as the framework for a successful return to Day to Day life. We take the clinical recommendations and put them to practical use in “Real Life”. As a PRA, I work with client’s and family to establish a daily living plan for continued sobriety and lasting recovery. My role as PRA is to guide, support and mentor clients assisting them to apply the information first learned in treatment into daily lifestyles. As a Personal Recovery Assistant, I encourage and motivate clients to become active participants in their own lives, not only to survive, but to thrive in recovery. My goals are to help create the life that our addiction has kept us from. By identifying moments of change, relapse triggers and barriers, a PRA creates teachable moments that influence current/future thoughts and behavioral processes. From attending designated meetings, returning to work or school, or finding a healthy daily routine, as a Personal Recovery Assistant I am there throughout the entire process.International Personally guided 32 trips (311 days) to France from the United States, Brazil, Germany, Spain and Italy. The trips were largely as a safe passage companion and ranged from 8 to 14 days each. My clients were small family groups (1-8) and were made up largely of physically compromised late stage (3 or 4) cancer patients. I lived in Paris, France for 5 years (2005-2010). Adolescents Department of Child Safety In December 2014, I was appointed a Court Appointed Special (CASA) Advocate by the Arizona Supreme Court. In the time since my appointment, I have documented 701 hours, driven 12,761 miles with adolescents.
