I performed analyses of real estate submarkets in D.C. and Northern Virginia and built financial models in Excel showing the vacancy and growth trends in these submarkets to pass onto the managing director for review and further analysis. From these analyses, I collected and organized data on properties in valuable business and consumer centers, as well as off of densely-traveled commuter routes. Then, I presented the parcels with the potential for acquisition and long-term development to managing directors. I toured potential office/multi-family acquisitions and attended investment pitches with senior members. I also gained experience in commercial real estate programs Argus and CoStar.

Washington Dc-Baltimore Area

In the Young Professionals Program at RockCreek, we attended daily morning meetings with the firm updating us on the general state of markets and impactful current events. Speakers from the firm held meetings each week on different strategies, tools, and areas of investment management and analysis. The Young Professionals also met and discussed edits to our collective stock portfolio each week, developing and learning about different types of investing (mean reversion, momentum, etc.).

In this seasonal position I have worked on and off, I have worked the cash register taking orders from customers and preparing orders as needed. I was responsible for checking and restocking inventory, including handling the biweekly supply truck ensuring that each product was priced and appropriately accounted for. I learned basic business principles from my manager and from the role, inventory skills, and soft skills engaging with what was often hundreds of customers each day.
