I am a finance and economics graduate of Virginia Tech. Over the past four years, I have taken full advantage of every moment I can spare from my rigorous double-major schedules each semester. I was involved in numerous extra-curricular activities on campus ranging from the rowing team, to CREDIT (a student organization that makes loans to middle market businesses), to Beta Alpha Psi (a finance and accounting honor fraternity). I also had the opportunity to study international business and marketing abroad in Switzerland for a semester. My time at Virginia Tech has allowed me to learn from a unique combination of challenging academics, as well as a diverse set of activities and experiences that have helped me grow my network, learn from others, and develop impeccable people and business skills.My two core interests are investments and business, and my two internships reflect this. At RockCreek, I worked as part of a team of interns and learned how to analyze, diversify, and restructure an equity portfolio. I was able to spend the summer learning to be a team player and a leader who can allocate risk and pitch mitigated investment decisions to the team. My experience with BoundTrain showed me how to construct models to analyze real estate markets, submarkets, and individual assets. I was also frequently taken along to meetings and pitches where senior members gave potential investors tours of assets under development. I saw deals happening in real time and observed how the senior members adjusted their pitches to the investors throughout the tour. I absorbed how they established connections and credibility through their knowledge of the development plan's details, risks, and forecasted outcomes, and I was able to apply this at the end of the summer to a series of undervalued parcels that I pitched to these same senior members.
