CHEM Trust is a charity that works to protect humans and wildlife from harmful chemicals. It works with scientists, policymakers and others at EU, UK and international levels to strengthen chemical regulation and promote research into issues such as hormone disrupting chemicals.I have been Executive Director since 2014, responsible for overall leadership, strategy and management of the organisation, while also leading work on EU chemicals policy.

I headed up the Economics and Resource Use programme at Friends of the Earth (England, Wales and Northern Ireland (EWNI)) and Friends of the Earth Europe's Resources & Consumption campaign. In this role I focussed particularly on sharing information on EU chemicals policy (REACH) with US companies, NGOs and regulators.

I was running WWF's European Toxics Programme, with a particular focus on the EU's major review of chemicals policy, also known as REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals).

At the start of this role I focussed on industrial pollution, writing a "Polluting Factory Campaign Guide". I gradually became more involved in EU chemicals policy development, leading in the creation of the "5 key principles for a new chemicals policy" which were the basis of Environmental NGO work throughout the long process that created the REACH chemicals policy.
