I headed up the Economics and Resource Use programme at Friends of the Earth (England, Wales and Northern Ireland (EWNI)) and Friends of the Earth Europe's Resources & Consumption campaign. The involved devising and implementing strategy, budgeting, policy innovation, managing a team of three people in the UK and content managing one in Brussels, and.

In this role I focussed particularly on sharing information on EU chemicals policy (REACH) with US companies, NGOs and regulators.

I was running WWF's European Toxics Programme, with a particular focus on the EU's major review of chemicals policy, also known as REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals).

At the start of this role I focussed on industrial pollution, writing a "Polluting Factory Campaign Guide". I gradually became more involved in EU chemicals policy development, leading in the creation of the "5 key principles for a new chemicals policy" which were the basis of Environmental NGO work throughout the long process that created the REACH.
