Experienced mechanical engineer with 8+ years experience. I have completed my NC,HNC and HND in mechanical engineering through an apprenticeship with West Fraser, a wood manufacturing company.I am part of a maintenance team who work on equipment such as chain/belt conveyors, screw conveyors, fans, pneumatics and hydraulics, pumps and more.On completion of my apprenticeship, I carried out my trade as a craftsman before being promoted to a mechanical technician two years later, using the CPD method to achieve this.The mechanical technician role came with more responsibility as I was designated an area of the plant to look after. This role included rebuilding spare parts, placing Work Orders and tracking the backlog, design improvements.After seven years at West Fraser I was successful in applying for an internal vacancy for a shift mechanical engineer, to which I am currently undergoing. The role involves responding to breakdowns and working independently. I have developed good problem solving and fault finding skills as a result. Prioritising tasks is also important as factors such production come into consideration.
