About Michael Wright

Before emigrating to the USA, in 1997, my design career began in the aerospace industry. I then moved into race car design - working on the Indycar program at Lola Cars.Between 1997 and 2010, I was a design and race engineer in Indycar, Champcar, and ALMS and GrandAm Sportscar racing.Until, October 2015, I was employed at Auto Research Center, Indianapolis, (primarily a scale model vehicle wind tunnel test facility), where I was most heavily involved in R & D design projects.I left ARC to return to motorsport as a design engineer at the Nismo Le Mans race team. The project unexpectedly closed down only three months later, late in December 2015.For 2016, I returned to race engineering with Rebel Rock Racing in the IMSA CTSC. The team was making strong progress, and becoming very competitive, but closed at season's end.Over the next two years, I worked on a contract for FORD Performance Motorsport Engineering establishing their scale model program in Concord, NC.At Long Road Racing, I was Chief designer during the concept stages of a TCR program on behalf of Mazda, which project was not pursued by the parent company.My role in R&D design in the medical device industry for Ethicon, involved the design of a 6 degrees of freedom endo-surgical, harmonic, device.At Vermont Sports Car, I carried out design work on Subaru rally program cars, but COVID inter-state travel restrictions, (quarantine periods), did not allow travel between Vermont and Indiana.On behalf of Swan Motorsports, I completed engine installation design work of a turbo-charged Toyota motor into a Swift Formula Atlantic chassis - an Unlimited Class Pikes Peak Hillclimb car project.For Gilbert Korthoff Motorsport I doubled in the roles of Race Engineer and Team Manager for the start-up IMSA GTD team.I am now working for BraunAbility - largely focused on suspension modification and design for their range of wheelchair accessible vehicles.My top five StrengthsFinder assessment:Competitive, Analytical, Responsible, Restorative, Deliberative.
