I'm an experienced speaker on autism, Asperger's syndrome and neurodiversity, having toured the UK, given over 100 talks to date and been featured around the media from Channel 4 and the BBC to the New Scientist magazine. I also gave a TEDx talk entitled "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is - Autism and Neurodiversity in the Workplace" in 2023.I have written three books on the subject - "It's Raining Cats and Dogs" and "A Different Kettle of Fish", both published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, plus a third self-published book entitled "What Has Autism Ever Done For Us?" I have also contributed to numerous others.I give talks on a global basis at conferences, workshops, schools and training sessions about my experiences of being autistic. I also advise companies on their Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) policies surrounding neurodiversity. Reporting into the Head of Portfolio Management, I pushed the company forward on optimisation of their quote footprint, driving further progress in the profile and volume of underwriting. In my first year, I overhauled the pricing strategy, halving the time it now takes to put through price adjustments, and oversaw loan volumes increase by 65% while also increasing margin. Just before I moved on the company started turning a profit.

I was the New Business Acquisition team's analyst, collating reports from Google Analytics, Google Data Studio and Microsoft Power BI, querying the backend systems with SQL (via a SAS portal). I also communicated with third party data suppliers and agencies around out of home advertising and liaised as a Chargepoint Operator (CPO).My most recent project has been organising the analysis of recent Tukker promotions, being responsible for checking eligibility of the thousands of customers that requested a toy and ensuring timely delivery to their new homes.

Autovia is the number one automotive content and commerce business in the UK. They leverage online and printed content from titles with the online sales expertise of the award-winning BuyaCar to drive leads to dealers and OEMs. Since moving to Autovia from Dennis I have been promoted again - I took charge of the Google Analytics and Tag Manager implementations.Data Analysis - I used SQL, BigQuery and Google Analytics to better understand customer behaviour and I aimed to optimise website experiences and functionality within all areas of the company. I also utilised my accuracy, intense focus and concentration to work to tight deadline and produce effective, actionable results.Data Science - I used a ​k-means model with SQL in order to predict site visitor categories and optimise marketing. This helped BuyaCar plan a new marketing strategy, which was a key part of their rebrand at the beginning of 2021.Data Visualisation Management - I was a manager for our third party data visualisation platform, which imports data from BigQuery, and graphs are created using SQL.Communication – I was often the first point of contact for data requests across Autovia as a whole, creating effective and easy to read reports from often complex data. I also provided the data behind BuyaCar’s social media presence.

For over three years I was the Market Analyst for the award-winning, online car company BuyaCar, who specialise in selling used and nearly new cars and vans. Reporting to the Operations Director, I was also allocated financial management responsibilities due to my systems-oriented approach and ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms. During my tenure sales rose 4-fold and quotes were up 10-fold. Stock on the site also doubled within my first year.My role included:- Presenting data to company Directors. I advised the company's Managers and Directors in making the best use of data for company performance, stock pricing and dealer communications.- My work informed social media communications.- Financial management responsibilities - I managed the intricate finance application system (DealTrak) and communicated with our panel of finance lenders (eg. Barclays). This made use of my exceptional accuracy with my work, due to my extraordinary attention to detail, perseverance and technical mindset.- Managing the finance application system (DealTrak).- First point of communication with our panel of lenders.- Interpreting car manufacturer pricing campaigns each quarter. Updating new car pricing and terms accordingly.- Setting up car payments.- Activating extended warranties.Operating since 2002 BuyaCar is uniquely expert in online-only car retail and indemnifies its dealer partners against distance selling regulations for used car sales. BuyaCar were acquired by independent media business Dennis Publishing Ltd. in 2014 and have won multiple awards since.

I studied a variety of interesting and thought-provoking modules as part of my physics degree. Numerous modules involved computing, using FORTRAN 95, and others ranged from photonics and quantum physics to soft matter and biological physics and financial derivatives. My final year project was about photonic crystal nanocavity lasers and discussed methods for increasing the quality factor in such lasers.I have been involved with numerous clubs over my time at university. The clubs I joined ranged from the mountaineering club and the physics society to the jazz orchestra and concert band. I also founded the University of Surrey Judo club, was their treasurer in my second year and, in my final year, became president of the club. My contribution towards the club meant that I received club colours from the university in my final year.

As part of the "sandwich" course at the University of Surrey, I did a paid placement year at the Brunel Innovation Centre, part of TWI and an extension of Brunel University. Here I worked on non-destructive testing (NDT) using ultrasound condition monitoring and my main role was to process the information received via MATLAB. Projects that I was involved in included interpreting data for storage tanks, wind turbine blades and I also had a project examining the opening and closing of train doors. I also used ABAQUS modelling software for a couple of months where I modelled large torques being applied to the crank shaft used in a wind turbine.This placement year also helped to refine my report writing skills as I had to present the data and results to those not familiar with MATLAB in a concise and suitable format. I also became very proficient in using complex mathematical techniques to process the data, such as the Mahalanobis Distance, Principle Component Analysis and Singular Value Decomposition.
