I help data make sense.From ultrasound condition monitoring of storage tanks to the world of Electric Vehicles (EVs), I offer my unique perspective and out-of-the-box thinking to assist companies in translating 1s and 0s to game-changing insights.My current role is at Hastings Direct as a Loans and Pricing Analyst, where I use SQL, Python and Snowflake to optimise their pricing strategy. I have also worked in analyst roles at The AA and Autovia (the parent company behind Auto Express, Carbuyer and Evo.) I predominantly used SQL, BigQuery, Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to better understand customer behaviour and optimise website experiences and functionality within all areas of the company. At Autovia I focused on the award-winning online car platform BuyaCar.co.uk, one of the first online used car marketplaces with the largest stock. I have a strong interest in keeping up with the automotive market alongside a particular interest in EVs.When I'm not buried in databases, code and spreadsheets, my side gig is as a keynote speaker on autism, Asperger's syndrome and neurodiversity. I have developed excellent presentation skills and am as comfortable in a highly technical environment as I am giving a presentation to 500+ people at events and conferences (including TEDx) on a global level.To complement this I am an author with three books and have contributed to numerous others. I have given hundreds talks at conferences, shows, AGMs, companies, schools and colleges about my experiences of being autistic. I focus on the positive aspects of being autistic, relating these traits to those scientists, developers and other people in the data industry display, which gives people a more optimistic view of the future. This has led me to educate and inspire thousands of people over a period of more than a decade. In my first year, I overhauled the pricing strategy, halving the time it now takes to put through price adjustments, and oversaw loan volumes increase by 65% while also increasing margin. Just before I moved on the company started turning a profit. -

Here I worked on non-destructive testing (NDT) using ultrasound condition monitoring and my main role was to process the information received via MATLAB. Projects that I was involved in included interpreting data for storage tanks, wind turbine blades and I also had a project examining the opening and closing of train doors. I also used ABAQUS modelling software for a couple of months where I modelled large torques being applied to the crank shaft used in a wind turbine.This placement year also helped to refine my report writing skills as I had to present the data and results to those not familiar with MATLAB in a concise and suitable format. I also became very proficient in using complex mathematical techniques to process the data, such as the Mahalanobis Distance, Principle Component Analysis and Singular Value Decomposition.
