Years spent running a small business and and developing marketing products for local businesses, has given me unique insights into the challenges local business owners face everyday. I've been in your shoes...See, I caught the entrepreneural bug soon after college. On vacation, I purchased a really cool hand drawn tourist map showing all the landmarks as well as recommendations on where to eat and drink. I then turned to my lovely wife and said “we need one of these in Savannah”. We spent the next few years touring and reviewing all the sites in Savannah and Charleston to produce our versions of the maps. Navigator Maps became the best-selling tourist maps and both cities the sale of which paid for 5 weeks of touring Europe and seed money for our next business – Kudzu Graphics.Looking to start a "real business", we packed a u-haul and moved to Atlanta, ready to bootstrap a company providing graphic design and print services. At Kudzu I lived the day to day challenges of running and growing a business for 15 years, which now allows me to empathize with my business clients. We also learned the meaning of service and the “what-ever it takes” attitude to deliver on commitments. We sold Kudzu Graphics at the height of the Great Recession. After spending two of the happiest years of my life playing Mr. Mom to my two young kids, I took a role with AT&T Yellow Pages. Because of my background in print and direct mail, I was given the role of a lifetime. I oversaw the development of an online direct marketing platform for our small business customers. Unfortunately corporate America had other priorities. YP was divested from AT&T and finally sold to Dex Media a few years latter. As that door closed, I realized that I wanted to use my experience - the successes and failures – to help other small businesses succeed with their local marketing and realize their goals.Let’s connect, I'd love to hear your story.
