Prairie Gold Homes, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that benefits all Nebraskans by helping inmates gain job skills and become productive citizens while building affordable, energy-efficient housing for our communities.The organization operates an innovative job training program in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on skills training. Graduates receive a nationally-recognized construction industry certificate, enhancing their employability upon release.My responsibility there began in a part-time capacity after being asked to construct a database for collecting and maintaining student, contractor & vendor data. That proved to be more complex than they would have hoped. Therefore I started full-time, so that the integrity & management of this database could be secured. This led to other responsibilities, such as maintaining their website content and assisting with training new students in construction safety fundamentals. With the advent of expansion to McCook, NE, and the need to grow personnel, I was asked to serve in the role of HR Director. Soon after that I began facilitating our Grant Reimbursements, after being awarded a substantial grant for the McCook expansion. This program is truly one of the best inmate rehabilitation programs in the country, due in large part to the care its Executive Director has for the students. I'm proud to be part of such an organization.I resigned from PGH in March, 2016, in order to move back home to Texas, return to my roots and family.
