It Consultant, Hie Consultant, Mixed-Technology Solution Designer, Author, Presenter, Entrepreneur
CurrentI thrive on technical challenges which give me opportunities to leverage my current skills, both old and new, to learn new technologies and to stretch myself. I love to work on projects with worthwhile goals, with organisations and teams which help to make the world a better place. I offer many years of experience in the IT industry, where I had opportunities to work in management, development, implementation, pre-sales, solutioning and architecture, with mixed and evolving technologies. I have considerable experience in health IT, both on the client and on the vendor side, employing my HL7 standards and enterprise application integration skills with multiple middleware platforms. Likely the very first system of this kind in Australia, I designed and built a Web-Based Laboratory Results Reposting System for St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney.Likely one of the first in Australia, I designed and implemented a client-server secure exchange infrastructure with secure X.509 certificate deployment for a major banking organisation, leveraging my knowledge in web security technologies including SSL/TLS, PKI and WS-Security. I presented at national and international conferences, wrote many technology-focussed blog articles and authored a 2000+ page technical book, published in 2008, on the topic of implementing EAI Patterns using specific vendor's integration platform. I developed and delivered several highly technical, hands-on training courses both involving IHE-compliant Health Information Exchange standards-based infrastructure and specific vendor's products in HIE and EAI areas.I am willing to continue traveling in Australia, Asia Pacific, USA and Europe, presenting, training, demonstrating and solutioning. I am involved in the standards community as part of the IHE Australia leadership team. I will be happy to discuss opportunities which might engage my mind, skills and interests, and provide opportunities to extend myself and add value.
