Michael Focht practices in the mass torts department at Fears Nachawati Law Firm in Dallas, Texas. He built an impressive career of over 30 years both in the law and in business management. He has been at the forefront of several trends in the way we practice law, most notably in the area of artificial intelligence in electronic discovery. During the early years of electronic discovery, Michael provided management and real-world experience to developers and users of AI in the discovery process. With the cost of litigation exploding, he believes it is essential to be able to manage very large data sets and be able to extract specific documents from among millions provide support for our client’s position and give our clients the best representation possible. Michael worked with law firms and corporations from a small boutique firm specializing in a specific area of the law to Fortune 50 companies with billions in revenue and hundreds of thousands of employees. During his career, he represented clients in the areas of mass tort healthcare operations and transactions, regulatory compliance, privacy, business management, and corporate formation and maintenance. He has also served as a key business partner for legal technology companies as well as oil and gas concerns. He is frequently asked to speak on an array of topics including issues facing healthcare providers in a rapidly changing environment and the use of artificial intelligence in the discovery process. He has been honored with inclusion in Who’s Who Among American Law Students and Who’s Who in American Law. Michael has numerous pursuits to occupy his free time. To satisfy a need to be creative, he became a classically trained French chef who continues to assist restauranteurs and other chefs in menu development and execution as well as teaching cooking classes for Central Market and Sur La Table. He also volunteered his time by being elected and serving as Chairman of the Board of Governors of Brookhaven Country Club ensuring that the 7,500 members’ voices are heard.
