Logistics Manager for Tata Distribution UK & Ireland. Managing the transport contract and ensuring transport compliance along with service offering, whilst reducing costs.

6 month contract working as a Project Manager, overseeing the retrofication programme on the launch of the new Vauxhall Astra car, based at Vauxhall Motors in Ellesmere Port.

•Responsible for the management of a small team in a high volume, lean manufacturing facility, reporting directly to the Operations and Logistics Director.•Servicing the manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port having responsibility for supplying the right materials, at the right time, at keen prices and high quality with low but sustainable inventory levels.•Negotiation with 3rd party transport providers & budgetary control of a £6 Million transport spend and upkeep of Transportation Management Systems (OTM)•Responsible for the upkeep, control and cycle counting of all inventory stocks, with a value in excess of £3 million pounds, using BPCS LX ERP computer system. •Finding key suppliers, willing and able to supply materials at low cost, whilst adhering to all quality specifications and providing the best possible service.Achievements•Outsourcing Company owned transport fleet to a 3PL negotiating improvement on time deliveries and customer service and a £300k per annum saving•Reducing working capital, by £800k, with the introduction of timed, daily steel deliveries, resulting in the lowest day’s inventory across Greif Europe.•Managing a new Decoiling team in a new area and moulding them into a flexible, motivated team. •Being part of a project team successfully implementing the BPCS LX and Oracle Transportation System (OTM) Computer Systems in 2008.•Developing supplier relationships. Working closely with key suppliers leading to agreed KPI’s, Service Level Agreements and Supplier Appraisals.•Reducing cost of internal site movements (Shunting) by £80k per annum, by job combinations and improvement of site layout.•Reduction in transport fleet by 20% (63 trailers) via better fleet utilisation and reduction in finished good stock, saving £120k per annum.•Liaising and working with the customer base to increase palletised loads delivered from initially 7% to 49% in 12months and increasing the maximum payloads by 10%

•Responsible for leading a shift of 3 operators in the De-coil department. Ensuring that the production steel requirements of the factory were met and planning and forecasting the lines demand of steel using MRP. •Reporting on Key performance indicators, such as Line efficiency, Downtime, monitoring and reporting on the performance of materials to the factory from strategic suppliers.Achievements•Working with commercial department, to rationalise steel sizes, from 60 to 35.•100% on time of cut steel delivery to the production line.

•Reporting to the Logistics Manager, helping with the day to day running of the BPCS MRP II computer system. Ensuring the accuracy of stocks, maintaining the level of materials required in order to meet production deadlines, setting production programmes and procuring raw materials items required for production.Achievements•Being selected as part of the project team to implement first MRP II system•Consistently achieving high KPI levels in stock, deadlines and procurement

•Working in the accounts department, reporting to the business unit accountant, providing assistance on day-to-day accounting operations. E.g. purchase ledger maintenance, nominating and coding invoices, assisting in the monthly operating results, producing weekly production figures, helping to eliminate and solve queries from the company’s suppliers.Achievements•Introducing the procedure the company still operates today for processing of all invoices in a timely and efficient manner.
