I am a cognitive psychologist by training and degree. My research examines various aspects of human memory, learning, and metacognition (the monitoring and control of other mental processes). I publish in a range of behavioral journals in cognitive psychology. I am a fellow of the Psychonomic Society and of the Midwestern Psychological Association. I teach a variety of specialized courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels (e.g., specialized graduate seminars in memory and in metacognition; undergraduate courses in cognitive psychology). I have a wealth of service experience to my department, university, and the field. For example, I served as the director of my department's Experimental Psychology Graduate Program for several years, and prior to that I served as the director of my department's Undergraduate Psychology Program and as the course supervisor for General Psychology (i.e., Introductory Psychology). I have served on university and college committees related to student success and to accreditation, respectively, as well as tenure and promotion committees and a dean's review committee. I have reviewed submissions for several dozen different academic journals, as well as materials for textbook publishers and grants for funding agencies.
