Michael’s work has been comprised of a wide range of project types, encompassing new construction, renovations, and historic preservation.While valued for his design skills and technical knowledge, perhaps as important are the strong professional relationships that he has cultivated with his clients. Having a reputation for being highly focused, creative, and rigorous in his design approach, Michael has led multi-disciplinary design teams on projects scaling from phased ground-up work to small, meticulous interventions. With extensive field experience, he understands the criticality of a well-tooled set of construction documents in minimizing a client’s exposure to construction change orders. Completed project types include education facilities (pre-K through 12), performing arts spaces, museum renovations, corporate / commercial spaces, healthcare, justice facilities, and critical infrastructure control facilities.It is his belief that the best architecture occurs at the balance between respect, technical excellence, and forward-thinking design, seeing each of these as being intrinsically connected within the narrative of the built environment.Although Michael was away from Canada for many years, the prairies always remained near to his heart. Having returned several years ago, he is excited to have landed at a firm with the rich history of Architecture 49.
