My primary experience is in systems engineering that has included both hands-on and management roles in the development, deployment and operations for environmental monitoring, wireless networks, and satellite and cellular mobile services. The systems engineering focus has also been applied to developing insights to trends in technology and society to facilitate product planning and technology roadmaps that help position products and services for the jobs that people want to hire your product or service to do for them. These insights come from combining ethnography, technology, innovation and business experience in the product (or solution) development process. My goals are to help others develop and use these skills to address both large and small projects. The large includes helping to facilitate discussions that lead to collaboration in tackling the big challenges that face our global community including mitigating, hedging and adapting to the realities of climate change and environmental stresses from our growing impact on the services provided by our planet. The small includes combing technology capabilities with customer insight to develop exceptionally well-matched consumer products. I develop models, metrics, and dashboards using system and strategy dynamics, scenario thinking, and serious games as learning and collaboration tools.My interests include robotics, nanotechnology, bionics, clean energy, human factors and performance, computing, climate history and change, collapse of human societies, expert decision making, virtual worlds and environments, computer games, innovation, accelerating change, globalization to improve better product and policy decision-making.
