As Special Counsel to Scott Law Firm, P.A., Michael Medlock centered his practice on the default mortgage industry, representing mortgage lenders and servicers, private mortgage insurers, title insurance companies, government agencies, and government-sponsored enterprises in mortgage foreclosure, bankruptcy, property clearance, and creditor rights litigation actions throughout South Carolina.Mr. Medlock also served as counsel to FNMA when foreclosing on commercial properties, including multi-family units, where the appointment of a receiver is required, reports generated and filed with the courts monthly, and the foreclosure finalized.With this, Mr. Medlock served clients in a wide variety of real estate matters from Real Estate Owned (REO) closings to residential and commercial closings, as well as real estate litigation matters including, but not limited to, quiet title actions, heirs' property actions and tax sale matters.

As Edgefield County Attorney, Michael Medlock handled zoning and land use ordinances, eminent domain and condemnation procedures, contract negotiations as well as litigation (including matters before the Administrative Law Courts) and zoning / land development. He drafted Ordinances and Resolutions, attended County Council meetings and worked with the County Administrator regularly. Advised the County, its appointees and employees pursuant to the South Carolina State Ethics Act, the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act; the South Carolina State Tort Claims Act; and federal Civil Rights statutes and decisions.Assisted with multi-county industrial park expansion requirements and industrial development including, but not limited to, drafting ordinances to expand existing industrial parks and drafting ordinances to amend zoning requirements to accommodate large industry moving to the county; defending such changes at public hearings and certifying all laws have been complied with to ensure such ordinances would withstand judicial review.
