Michael R. Johnson serves as ScanWorks Boundary Scan Test (BST) Product Manager for ASSET InterTech. He also serves as manager of ASSET InterTech’s Application Engineering and Services organization. ASSET is the leading supplier of test, debug, and validation software tools based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 1149.1 Standard for Test Access and Boundary Scan Architecture in the Test and Measurement industry. In addition to providing Boundary Scan (a.k.a JTAG) structural testing, ScanWorks provides an array of fast device programming applications, structural memory testing, and component test methods for printed circuit board designs. As Product Manager, Michael provides strategic direction for the ScanWorks BST product, ensuring an exceptional customer experience and adherence to current and future IEEE standards requirements. Michael coordinates with ASSET’s cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Sales, Support, and Research and Development, to bring ASSET’s business goals to fruition.Michael has authored eBooks on topics such as testing DDR memory, increasing printed circuit board test coverage, and embedded Boundary Scan applications. Michael delivers webinars on these topics as well, lending his expertise to the Test and Measurement industry. Michael has also authored an IEEE publication “The Increasing Importance of Utilizing Non-intrusive Board Test Technologies for Printed Circuit Board Defect Coverage”.Before ASSET, Michael’s background included roles as a Cellular System Engineer with Nortel Networks and a Hardware Design Engineer with Alcatel USA. While at Nortel Networks, Michael analyzed and provided handoff measurement data for Nortel’s mobile and Personal Communications Services (PCS) networks. As a Hardware Design Engineer, Michael designed printed circuit board modules capable of transmitting and receiving optical signals at 622.08 Mbits/s for Alcatel’s transport fiber-optic systems.Michael has received recognition as the highest-ranking College of Engineering Graduate from Southern University and for the design of an Optical Carrier (OC)-12 622.08 Mbits/s module for Alcatel's 1680 Optical Gateway Manager. Michael has also been honored by the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) with its Hidden Figures of Dallas - Top STEM Influencer Award.Michael earned the Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Electrical Engineering from Southern University and A&M College located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the Master in Business Administration from Amberton University located in Garland, Texas.
