•Performed initial intake interviews at the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center, gathering background information about the client as well as any questions, case notes, and immediate needs he/she had so I could pass them along to the attorney on the case.•Accompanied investigators on fieldwork, including evidence reviews, taking photographs of past crime scenes, serving subpoenas, and getting in contact with involved parties for certain cases.•Acquired a greater understanding of the organization of a jail and became more comfortable navigating through detention facilities and interacting with guards, inmates, and others who work within the detention system.•Became more knowledgeable about sentencing rulings and various types of pretrial release, such as surety bonds, SOR, and ROR.
