As a Senior Solutions Architect in the Field Solution Architecture team, I am responsible for providing pre- and post-sales consulting to Hazelcast customers and prospects on our industry leading In Memory Computing Platform.My portfolio includes the full suite of Hazelcast products: IMDG, the leading In-Memory Data Grid; Jet, a third-generation stream processing engine built on the IMDG core, and Hazelcast Cloud, a managed services offering for cloud, on-premise, or hybrid deployment

Responsible for the JDeveloper debugger, including both the language-specific Java debugger as well as the lower-level debugging framework used by various other debuggers including SOA, Service Bus, XSLT, and PL/SQL. Features I designed and implemented include:* Smart step-into: When performing a step-into operation on a line with multiple method calls, the user can choose which method to step into by using the tab key (which will move the highlight to the next available method call on the line). This is a complex feature to implement since we must disambiguate multiple calls into the same method or to overloaded methods, as well as track which methods have already been executed so we do not highlight methods that have already been executed. * Visual program execution: During stepping operations, we capture changes to variables and overlay the changes into the code window, as well as illustrating program flow by drawing arrows in the margin. This way it is easy to see what path is taken through conditional statements, case statements, and the like, as well as see the result of calculations or assignments without needed to look back and forth between the code editor panel and the data panel. A patent was awarded for this feature* Streams debugger: With the introduction of streams and increased use of chained operations, it can become difficult to visualize the transformations happening to data in the intermediate steps. The streams debugger allows stepping through such statements and viewing intermediate results. * Restart method capability (method rewind) The JVM doesn't provide the capability to arbitrarily reset the instruction pointer. It's not unusual to place a breakpoint where a developer expects the problem lies, only to find the problem occurred before reaching that point. The restart method capability allows the user to restart execution of the current method (or any method in the stack) and then run forward to a selected line.

Member of the Data Access Layer (DAL) kernel team. Developed Eclipse plug-in to generate DAL code providing improved productivity and ease-of-use for developers.Highlights:* Users would create an annotated Java interface using standard Java Persistence API (JPA) annotations such as @Column, @Id, @OneToOne, @OrderBy, etc.* Plug-in would then generate an implementation of the interface, conformant to the requirements of eBay's proprietary, highly scalable Data Access Layer* A GUI tab would be added behind the source editor, allowing user to work back and forth seamlessly between a graphical and source view of the code.* Generated source code could be freely edited; plug-in used Eclipse AST (Abstract Syntax Tree) to parse changes made via editor and keep everything in sync.

Consulting for Documentum Content Management software, providing implementation assistance and customized coding and integration for users implementing Content Management solutions. Primary industries were health care and financial services.

Ported Java Virtual Machine to HP 3000 - MPE/iX. Developed open-source class libraries for Java interface to OS intrinsics, TurboIMAGE database, and forms management package. Assisted other teams in porting of internet enabling technologies to the HP 3000 platformHighlights:* Ported the initial JVM (JDK 1.0.1) to platform as a spare-time project and proof of concept to management* Led the effort to port future JDKs (1.1 through 1.3)* Ported the Just-in-time compiler developed for HP-UX to the MPE platform (managed contractor relationship where some pieces of this were outsourced)* Helped form and lead the SIG JAVA group within Interex (HP user's group)

Advised large, strategic customers on various technology issues, particularly performance, scalability, capacity planning.

This entry encompasses several distinct jobs that shared a common thread of migration, porting, or consulting.* As an SEMC engineer, worked with strategic ISVs to port their applications and tools from MPE 16-bit Classic architecture to 32-bit Spectrum architecture.* At the Technology Access Center, served as a liaison between operating system lab teams and customers or ISVs at the time of introducing new technologies. For this, I would embed with the lab team for some period to come up-to-speed on the new technology, put together presentation materials, tutorials, or training materials, and then present the material to selected partners and assist them throughout their implementation phase. * Also at the TAC, worked with Marketing and division management to identify gaps in our platform software offerings. Would then, jointly with the marketing team, identify the vendors best suited to address those gaps and work to recruit them to the platform. When recruitment was successful, would continue as the technical lead to work with porting, tuning, benchmarking, and other activities as needed to ensure success.

Provided pre-sales and post-sales consulting and project implementation services.* Served as a technical resource to the sales team, participating in sales calls, creating demos, responding to the technical requirements portion of RFPs, and other tasks as requested by management.* Provided customization of HP software for customers. Some of these projects were quite large, involving multiple HP or contractor personnel on projects that typically ran 3 to 6 months but sometimes longer. * As a top technical resource, was frequently called upon to work outside the geographic area to respond to larger projects with longer durations. Developed a reputation where I'd often be requested by name rather than just a generic warm-body-needed request.
