Healthcare should be accessible to everyone. With a background in nutrition, a specialization in public health and health communication, and a PhD in Cancer Nutrition Epidemiology, my career is dedicated to advancing cancer prevention and public health.My PhD focused on the role of fatty acids in breast cancer development and mortality, using diverse populations and methodological approaches to improve nutrition guidelines by examining the impact of fats on health.Currently, I work as a scientist and in scientific coordination roles, contributing to cancer prevention efforts across Europe. I coordinate projects within the Cancer Prevention Europe (CPE) consortium, where I bring an early career perspective to the scientific secretariat and lead initiatives such as the development of an Early Career Network to foster collaboration among cancer prevention experts.In parallel, I am involved in the Cancer in Children – Epidemiology, Registration, Omics (CiCERO) project, a multi-site study across sub-Saharan Africa aimed at understanding the patient journey, improving childhood cancer registration, and exploring barriers to treatment adherence. Both of these projects aligns with the Environmental Epidemiology and Lifestyle branch, focusing on how environmental exposures and lifestyle factors intersect to influence cancer risk, with the aim of developing actionable prevention strategies at the population level.I strongly believe that our generation has the tools to drive meaningful healthcare improvements. By empowering students and young professionals to connect in international, interdisciplinary environments, we can tackle public health challenges together.The goal may not be world peace, but even a 0.001% improvement in healthcare outcomes is a step worth taking.
