• Highly involved in the design, implementation, and development of engineering, system evaluation, and manufacturing test hardware• Performs schematic capture, component placement, trace routing and signal integrity check if necessary• Review schematic symbols and PCB land pattern libraries • Work with Product Engineers, Manufacturing and Mechanical engineers on board layout topology reviews and simulation• Involved in drawing up plans and specifications for projects, using 3D modeling/simulation tool (Sketch Up)• Run design rules check (DRC) and ensures all files are compliant• Generates BOM and Gerber files for PCB fabrication and assembly• Conducts Final QA of other PCB designer files for fabrication• Uses version control system to manage files and directories and the changes made to it (SVN)• Coordinates with suppliers about PCB fabrication, component procurement and assembly • Involved in hardware checkout and debug, includes component replacement/mounting if necessary• Monitors and updates design status of all projects handled by the group• Trains other PCB designers on hardware development and efficient utilization of the Altium Designer tool• Documents corrective actions to drive design process and quality improvements • Documents learning on each project development done
