Graduate Student Researcher
Thesis Advisor: Prof. Jeremy LevyDepartment: Physics and AstronomyResearch: I work in an experimental condensed matter physics lab. We use an innovative conductive-AFM lithography technique to create nanowire paths at a complex-oxide interface. Room-temperature and low-temperature transport measurements reveal many emergent properties, such as superconductivity, spin-orbit coupling, magnetism, and more. A novel strongly-correlated electronic phase was recently observed; ultra-clean nanowire devices with quantized conductance are used to probe the electronic band structure and correlations in this system.

Mentor: Dr. David TomichDepartment: AFRL RX-MaterialsExperience: Scanning probe microscopy is a broad family of techniques used to study how material properties vary with nanoscale spatial resolution. One member of this family is atomic force microscopy (AFM), which is most commonly used to map surface topography to determine atomic layer thickness and roughness measurements for materials growth and characterization research. In this work experience, in addition to performing AFM measurements on various semiconductor, oxide, and graphene samples, I performed electrostatic force microscopy (a variation of AFM that is sensitive to the electrostatic field, and therefore static electric charges, at a surface) on cleaved transistor cross-sections.
Honors Thesis Research Project
Advisor: Dr. Said ElhamriDepartment: PhysicsResearch: Wide-bandgap semiconductor devices are important for many commercial applications such as blu-ray lasers, white LEDs, and high-temperature and high-energy-density electronics. In this project, transport measurements were performed as a function of temperature and magnetic field in wide-bandgap GaN/AlGaN heterostructures, to study the impact of growth parameters such as aluminum doping on performance properties including carrier density and mobility.
