Worked with Oakland Unified School District's Student Attendance Office to identify best practices model for limiting truancy, effective for the specific group of students at Oakland International High School. I supported Oakland International High School by building strategies and systems to decrease truancy and chronic absenteeism rates among the students- Researched best-practices to re-engage truant students and analyzed those students' needs and demographics- Addressed needs by starting cultural clubs where 92% student participants enjoy school positively (a 58% increase from 37%) and conducting parent meetings to build relationships and increase family engagement for student success- Served on the school’s COST (Coordination of Services Team) connecting students with services- Created the framework for the school-wide Attendance Challenge and monitored its results- Increased the number of students with good & perfect attendance from 83 to 115 (a 39% increase)
