One of the greatest joys of my life is to see the confidence and self-esteem grow in our students. Having taught students from age 2 (oh my gosh are they cute!) on up to adult, we built our karate school to touch people's lives in a loving family atmosphere. Reaching out to our community, we taught safety and honor in the public schools to over 3,400 kids with the local law enforcement. In addition, we ran and organized a Fight Like a Girl self-defense seminars where over 500 women and girls attended. Picking up pizza at Papa Murphy's one night a few days after the seminar, one of their employees ran up to me and said she had attended the Fight Like a Girl seminar. She had been in an abusive situation and the seminar gave her the courage to stand up to her boyfriend and leave him. Way to go! Our family loved to touch our community and make a difference in people's lives.
