JOB RESPONSIBILITIESReporting directly to the elected Board of Directors, this position provides leadership and strategicdirection for the entire organization. Responsible for all quality and financial outcomes through our leadership team and physicians. Built effective working relationships with both employed and independent physicians to better align organizational goals and clinical practice. Management and development of multiple partnerships with larger and smaller healthcare entities. ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Improved bottom line from -4.5% to breakeven in 13 months. • Completed $48 million dollar construction/renovation project.• Formed new partnerships for specialty practice including: ENT, Cardiology and Opthalmology.• Established new 3 year strategic plan for the hospital by working with physicians, the local independent clinic, executive leadership and organizational managers along with the elected Board of Directors.• Established a formalized internal leadership education program to make the organization more responsive to clinical, financial and strategic changes.• Restructured joint leadership meetings with the local independent clinic and the Executive Committee of the hospital to have crucial conversations in a constructive and collaborative environment.• Instituted administrative strategic goal structure for the executive team to align with the organizational strategic plan.• Coaching of executive team members in performance and structure within their areas of responsibility to develop high-performance teams.• Helped to develop a population health organization (Wilderness Health) and now serve as Vice Chair. Responsible for all joint venture and partnership development. Through our hospital teams, responsible for the financial and quality performance of the organization. Management and development of multiple partnerships with the local physician group as well as larger systems including the University of Wisconsin and Gundersen Lutheran. ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Through facilitating the management and finance teams, during first six months of employment brought the organization from an operating loss of (2%) to a positive 4.5% operating margin to end the fiscal year (2012).• Ended fiscal year (2013) with a 6.5% operating margin through the combined efforts of our leadership team, patient care teams and physicians.• Established a new 3 year strategic plan utilizing a planning process that included the board, leadership, and staff of the organization as well as the independent physician-owned clinic.• In partnership with the Board, established a Board education/development plan for trustees.• Assessment and restructure of the administrative team duties for focus on strategically aligned goals and projects.• Partnered with the University of WI and one other hospital to establish an independent HIE.• Board Quality Team established a unified quality plan shared by the independent physician clinic and hospital.• Established regular long-range planning sessions with the local independent clinic.• Completed construction of a new regional clinic under the projected budget.• Named Top 100 Critical Access Hospitas in the U.S.• Have expanded services to include: Vascular Services, Gynecological Surgeries,Interventional Radiology, Oncology, Pain Management Services and stroke care.

This position provides leadership and strategic direction for operations of the healthcare system to meet all quality, performance and financial goals for the hospital and clinics. Directly responsible for developing collaborative ventures with other healthcare systems, agencies, independent clinics, and individual healthcare providers.
