In Downstream, refinery and chemical plant environments, managed the corporate safety assessment team to include Leadership and Systems SME, two Regulatory Compliance Managers, HSE Programs Manager, HSE Programs Specialists, and five Regional HSE Managers across The Americas. Led all corporate HSE programs, OSHA compliance, and workers' compensation efforts to identify and mitigate exposure that impacts team members (4,000 EEs) and clients. Developed and led corporate leadership efforts to implement cultural change through leadership development, improved field engagements and data analysis to drive barrier removal. Managed various processes such as behavior based safety, industrial hygiene, ISNetworld, incident investigations, Root Cause Analysis, case management, ABC Analysis, corporate metrics and a variety of other business and management systems. Accomplishments: Realigned resources to provide maximum influence throughout the company, shifted the organizational culture to reinforcing safe behaviors and revitalized the behavioral approach to leadership – shifting the ownership of safety to the business, improved the effectiveness of action planning and designed / sponsored weekly CARE meetings with the senior leadership team to ensure corporate actions were aligned with behavioral science methodologies to drive change.

Within Shell’s Upstream Americas, coached and mentored 75 executives (EC-1&2) and supporting teams to develop vision, credibility and accountability in safety leadership skills and team effectiveness. Operations Manager, 2005 – 2006Led facility operations / engineering professionals for the Low Level & Hazardous Mixed Waste Facilities to achieve team goals. Managed operations (seven managers/50 hourly team members) to re-characterize and remediate low-level, hazardous mixed waste to safely transport for storage at out-of-state facilities. Served as operational representative for emergency operations and EOC duty.Behavioral Based Safety SME / Senior Leadership Team Consultant (internal), 1995 – 2005Led the first behavior based safety initiative at SRS for the Site Utilities to institutionalize the approach and provide a step change in effective leadership / HSE performance outcomes. Managed multiple teams and processes to influence implementation needs/challenges within operations, engineering and administrative businesses to achieve / sustain a no-harm culture. Responsible for leading / influencing all levels of executive and senior leaders regarding leadership behaviors to effectively influence alignment at the site level. Volunteered for 17 years in emergency services as an Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-I), Certified EMT Instructor, Lieutenant of EMS Operations and Training, professional police officer and fireman. Developed and delivered organizational preparedness for EMS, led initial search and rescue for interior fire suppression, operated pumpers and performed typical law enforcement duties.
