Prior to joining GPS Impact, Mike was a principal at Kansas Grassroots - an organization he came to after serving on the staffs of Governor Kathleen Sebelius, Governor Mark Parkinson and Attorney General Steve Six. Mike was Executive Director of the Kansas Democratic Party during the 2000s, where he led Kansas Democrats to victories at the statewide, Congressional, and legislative level. He was elected to the Douglas County Commission in 2009 while serving on the staff of Governor Sebelius, and would go on to be re-elected twice more - serving on the commission until 2019.
