Working within the core Voice team looking after the day to day management of the companies voice infrastructure, incorporating Genband SBCs, SIP proxies and routing engine. The core voice function underpins GCIs range of voice products such a PCI payment system, IVRs, Skype for Business, Cloud PBX, Contact Centre, on prem PBX and other hosted voice products. A varied and interesting role liaising with various teams in the business to build and maintain our customers solutions.

Digilink Business Systems after being purchased by the GCI group in 2004 ceased operating and employment transferred into Edge Telecom, also part of the same group.As well as continuing with some of my former engineering duties carried over from DigiLink Business Systems. Starting as a trainee engineer in my short time with the company quickly fast tracked from basic single line installs to ultimately being responsible for installation of large PBX implementations utilising mainly GPT ISDX systems and associated products, both in standalone and networked environments with such customers as the RBS and Inland Revenue.Experience gained in common voice signalling systems such as DASSII, DPNSS, APNSS, AC15, E&M, ISDN30, ISDN2, QSIG, CASS.During this time I was also required to work with clocking systems (employee timekeeping), PA systems, Radio Paging, Fire Alarm and Watchmans protection systems. Often sold in conjunction with PBX equipment to provide a single source solution to our clients which as multi skilled and self reliant engineers we were required to fit and manage along with the telephony equipment.

4 year indentured Apprenticship covering multi skill for 1st year including all aspects of military vehicle build and refit, electrical installation, fitter engineer and machine work, instrumentation, datacomms and three years specialising in military communications including radio, satellite and radar systems utilising ATE and other electronic fault finding tools to diagnose and repair military hardware to component level.
