Mike Hatch has served as Hatch Design Group’s Vice President and Principal since 1995, overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations, new business development, and design staff of 30 employees. Under Mike’s leadership, Hatch Design Group has developed numerous successful and well-known restaurant chains and has been awarded Nation’s Restaurant News Hot Concept awards for the creation of Lazy Dog Café. Before joining Hatch Design Group, Mike worked as a Beverage Manager at the Ritz-Carlton where he gained hands-on knowledge of back of house and restaurant operations and as an architectural drafter at Scheurer Architects, Inc. where he gained experience in architectural drawing and design. Since joining the family business, he has been managing projects ranging from QSR and family chains like Nekter Juice Bar, Tender Greens, and Lazy Dog Cafe to upscale hotels and fine dining venues like Water Grill by King’s Seafood Company, Bacara Resort and Spa by Pacific Hospitality Group, and Sunriver Resort by Destination Hotels. In recent years, Mike’s role has transformed from design to business development and operations. Mike works closely with new prospective clients to build turn-key construction teams, generate budgets, and develop landlord packages including preliminary site and conceptual planning for presentation to investors and appropriate corporate design committees. Mike’s 25 years of experience in evaluating and activating ill-performing and oddly located sites helps clients maximize their space and capitalize on their investment. While Mike stays busy during the work week, he enjoys weekends sailing on his boat; paddle boarding in the harbor; and riding bikes around town with his wife, Sandy.
