Originally, I attained a degree in Biology, seeking a career in conservation. I was pursuing a position of California Game Warden but in the early 1990s California was experiencing budget cuts and funding for new Game Wardens was eliminated. A Game Warden suggested I go on a Police Ride-a-Long. Taking that advice, I went on a Ride-a-Long with the San Jose Police Department. I was immediately hooked and knew that a career in law enforcement was perfect for me. The fast pace, investigative aspect of the job, variety of service calls, and the difference I could make in individual victims’ lives made me feel like I was doing something important and worthwhile. I competed with thousands of applicants for a position in the San Jose Police Department and prevailed!With a deep commitment to family, fairness, honor, and duty, I want my children to grow up in a peaceful and prosperous world and I try to contribute towards that goal in my daily work. I love learning new things and physics and math from a layperson’s perspective.I want to apply my investigative and leadership knowledge, skills, and experience toward a career in the private sector to help companies achieve their goals and successfully navigate difficult situations.
