I joined the RNZN as a willing abled body, trained in both military and trade specific (Mechanical Engineering) qualifications but gained a substantial amount of knowledge over the years, where I was trained to operate and maintain plant and equipment with verification of a taskbook(operators log) right through to supervising and managing personnel for tasks, fatigue and skill levels and having the knowledge to position the right person for the right job utilising the communication skills I had gained from further training and managing the operation and upkeep of maintaining plant and equipment with regards to maintaining operational status and having the ability to stay afloat within a war fighting marine environment.Just prior to my disembarkation of the Defence Force, I fulfilled my next role by becoming at adult learning instructor and conducted tutoring and instructing at the Marine Engineering School for mainly newly recruits starting their trade training.
