Lead ArchitectMortgage CadenceAurora, Co, Us -
Lead Of ArchitectureMortgage Cadence Nov 2024 - PresentDenver, Colorado, United StatesI have assumed responsibility for managing the Architecture department for all products offered by Mortgage Cadence. The team I inherited is fantastic. While I continue to provide primary architectural support for the Document Center, I also represent entire the team in internal and external meetings. This allows team members to continue to focus on their immediate tasks at hand. I serve as a conduit of information between the team and the rest of the organization and assist by providing direction when decisions need to made. I now have more direct reports but that's not a problem, as they are all fantastic employees and partners. The biggest challenge at this time is managing the large amount of additional meetings while striving to do my best in this role. -
Tech Architecture Senior ManagerMortgage Cadence Dec 2021 - Nov 2024Denver Metropolitan AreaI have embraced the concept of being a "force multiplier", which has made it possible to help many of those I work with achieve more. I don't manage these people, I guide them. I listen to them. I get them the answers and information they need to succeed. I give them advice based on my personal experiences. I challenge them (in a good way). I help them.I care deeply about the success of the organization and by helping the team members grow in skill and capabilities, I help ensure the continued success. I have been given a number of assignments, working with teams distributed across the world that in some cases involve modernizing existing applications, primarily by moving them to the cloud, and in other cases supporting adoption of features and capabilities already developed, but the full potential of these are just being realized. If there is something that needs doing, let's talk and find a way to get it done.My attitude, enthusiasm, and abilities continue to be my strengths. Along with dependability, reliability, organization and and a strong work ethic. I continue to apply strong analytical, problem solving, communication and presentation skills with passion and integrity in order to solve the challenges and puzzles presented in everyday life, whether in the professional or personal arena. -
Software Product Technical Architect PrincipalMortgage Cadence, An Accenture Company Dec 2013 - Dec 2021Greater Denver AreaAs our company has grown, my role has evolved into an Enterprise Architect and manager. As an architect, my time is spent helping to improve quality, features and performance. As a manager, I work with teams and direct reports not just to realize immediate goals regarding deliverables, but I also aim to help team members grow and be more productive. And through this journey, I hopefully improve myself as well. My manager has commented that I am a "force multiplier", which I have embraced. In the past, I viewed productivity by how much I was able to personally contribute, but with this revelation, I realize that by helping others to be more productive, the sum of the increase in their capability exceeds what I could have accomplished alone.I achieve this by communicating the technical vision, both short and long term. By leveraging my knowledge of many products that form the software ecosystem provided by Mortgage Cadence and how they relate. I also help ease communication when projects require the cooperation from several different departments within our organization. And most importantly, I coach and mentor team members, leveraging my years of experience and the many lessons I have learned. I focus on how I can positively influence those I work with.I continue to advocate technologies and approaches. This requires constant learning, listening and questioning so that I can share this information when developing vision and working with teams and their members. I participate in meetings with internal and external customers to understand their unique business needs, resolve issues and help form vision. I seek ways to improve process and efficiency constantly.I also assist the on-boarding of new team members, both locally and abroad; virtually and when possible, in person.I enjoy the variety of tasks and challenges (or what some might call opportunities) that present themselves seemingly every day. -
Senior Software EngineerMortgage Cadence Oct 2010 - Nov 2013Denver, ColoradoI worked with a talented group of developers on complicated and challenging (just the way I like it) products. The code base is, and I am probably understating this, simply huge and utilizes a lot of technologies and I got to work with the latest (at the time) .NET Framework, Visual Studio 2012 (C# of course), SQL Server 2012, Silverlight, MVC4, Web API while still having to dust off skills I had not worked with for years. After a while, I found myself mentoring the newly hired developers that augment our development team while still working on implementing new and enhancing existing features at an incredibly demanding rate. -
Pos DeveloperProfitstreams Sep 2009 - Nov 2010Primary developer for a .NET client component residing and operating silently on a third party point of sale system intended for use in the restaurant environment. • The client component provides an interface between the POS devices and other restaurant industry applications, such as reservation and online meal ordering systems. • The client component uses XSLT, LINQ, SQL and other technologies to translate data to and from proprietary formats. • The client component uses WPF, WCF, REST/JSON, SQL & TCP and other technologies to deliver translated data from point to point, enabling interactive relationships between proprietary and third party systems. • The client component also is used to collect data for purposes proprietary to ProfitStreams. • Installation utilities, test hosts and test harnesses are also developed and supported as needed. This can include special demonstration versions for trade shows that enable the product to be demonstrated without revealing any relationship with specific third party vendors.ProfitStreams also relied heavily on open source development tools for other products (Ruby on Rails) with which the client component also interfaces. This job requirement has proven to be the most interesting component of my current position, as it requires the use of REST web services, both hosted and consumed in C# code. Also responsible for maintaining close relationships with development staff of restaurant POS vendors.Working with open source developers has also exposed me to many other tools, such as Backpack, Base Camp, Pivotal Tracker, Jira, and other applications of Agile processes.
