While at Real-Time Analyzer's I supported library and model development using chemometric algorithms for property prediction, cluster, discriminant, and unknown analysis, all based upon spectroscopic techniques. In conjunction I performed measurements on tens of thousands of samples including hundreds of calibration sets for varied applications. In doing so I realized the vital importance to get it right at the sampling stage - especially with vital correlations for physical data. Additional day to day duties included sales support and application development for customers and internal projects - most of all proposal development with Stuart Farquharson.

As a post-doc I supported the development of Real-Time Analyzer's Portable Fuel Analyzer (PFA). This included chemometric modeling for the prediction of 18 fuel properties from regressions based on ASTM data and Raman spectra measured for numerous classes of fuel. Spectroscopic correlations for fuel property prediction has now evolved into a major portion of RTA's business .

Responsibilities included 8 semesters of a teaching assistantship in general, analytical, and instrumental laboratories. Instrumental methods included surveys of data acquisition/signal processing routines, as well as collection with UVVIS, FTIR, GC, NMR, PXRD, HPLC, AA, and analytical procedures for each. During this time I was directly involved with the setup of a computer lab for processing in R, UNSCRAMBLER, Matlab and Galactic GRAMS. These included basic least squares and culminated in routines for chemometric methods applicable to all of the techniques surveyed.

With Anteon I served as an on-site contractor for the Coast Guard Research & Development Center. My duties there included support in analytical methods for narcotics detection for the vessel search group. Highlights from this work include development of a calibration standard for a hybrid Gas Chromatography Ion Mobility Spectrometer (GC-IMS), as well as field testing IMS technology for real world chemical identification capabilities.

A&T was purchased by Anteon in 2000, my role there was essentially the same as that listed above for Anteon (on-site contractor for USCG R&DC) under the guidance of Steven Rigdon who is now at SAIC
