Mike is a destination and convention bureau development specialist with 30 years experience in the leisure and business events industry. Currently Mike is the key consultant for Japan Tourism Agency's Global MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions) Programme, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and oversees GainingEdge's in market sales representation, business development projects and major events consultancy unit. Additionally he has provided consultancy services for destinations, governments and bureaus across the Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe and the USA. Prior to joining GainingEdge in 2007 Mike served as General Manager Sales and Marketing for the Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau leading the community’s bid teams to secure major international business events for the city and overseeing the strategic planning and business development programmes. He also played a lead role in the development of AIME as the premier business events trade show in the Asia Pacific and the world first BestCities Global Alliance. Mike has held several industry leadership positions including National President and State Chairman of Meetings and Events of Australia. Mike also worked in senior marketing roles with Tourism Australia helping establish their first foray into the Asia market and overseeing travel trade development in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
