What is the We’re Open initiative? We’re Open is a community initiative founded by espell, Google and Prezi in June 2013 to support openness in Hungary. The participants of the We’re Open community initiative regard it as a fundamental value that others are judged solely on the basis of their actions and achievements, without regard to other characteristics. The companies, organisations and communities signed up to the following manifesto, which can also be found on nyitottakvagyunk.hu website:“Being open makes business sense. As open companies, we regard it as a fundamental corporate value that our employees and our partners are judged solely on the basis of their actions and their work performance, and without regard to their age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, national or ethnic background, political convictions, religious or other beliefs, physical abilities, or other characteristics.”More than 800 companies, organisations and communities have already joined We’re Open, including big-name international brands, companies and NGOs, as well as several Hungarian press outlets. Why did we launch the initiative? We launched the We’re Open initiative because not only do we believe that being open is the right thing to do, we know from experience that it makes business sense. We know that there are lots of you out there who share our values. The We’re Open initiative, along with its website nyitottakvagyunk.hu, has been created for companies, organisations and communities that would like to join us in expressing a commitment to openness and inspire others to do the same. We, the founders, would simply like to provide the impetus for this community initiative.
