About Miles De Feyter

With over two decades of experience working within this "fad" called the internet, I've witnessed first-hand the industry’s growing pains and emerging technologies. Some of these technologies have succeeded, but many have not lasted the test of time. Today, I apply this experience and perspective as a Director of Client Engagements for Brightspot, leading dev teams and client accounts. 

Starting out in San Francisco in the early 2000's, I entered the tech world during the height of the first internet boom, hand coding HTML pages for the magazine publisher Red Herring. 

Later, I spent 5 years at AOL building massive scale websites and tools and championing standards-based development best practices. I worked on AOL News; built AOL's first AJAX slideshow and many other apps of various sizes; mentored developers in semantic markup, CSS, and JavaScript; was the front end dev lead for a number of projects; and was a contributing member of the W3C who helped the HTML Working Group define what would become the HTML5 recommendations.

In 2009, I left AOL to join an exciting start up, Perfect Sense, where we have built an industry leading publishing platform known as Brightspot. It's been a fun and challenging ride so far. Nine years with Perfect Sense and growing with the company from 30 employees to 200 has provided me new opportunities to expand my role from a lead developer to a technical manager overseeing 4M+ in accounts. 

I am skilled in Front End Web Development (Java Script, HTML, CSS, LESS, Microformats), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Java, Leadership, and Github, and I consider myself to be a strong engineering professional who gets things done.
