About Luís Domingos

Luís began his career in hospitality aged 16. Although he always loved the bar industry, it was not always at the forefront of his professional life at 18 years old he entered the Portuguese Air Force and alongside completed 2 university degrees in Design of Communications. Finally as a complement and dedication to the hospitality industry completed an Executive Master in Hotel Management, UCP - Catholic University of Portugal in partnership with ESHTE - Estoril higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies. During this time, he gained a lot of experience, predominately administrative and financial by working in the fuel department of the Portuguese Air Force, managing and controlling fuel/oil levels for airbases in Portugal. He was responsible for ensuring all payments were gathered and processed correctly by international military forces that chose to use national Air Force facilities as well working alongside international fuel companies. As a result of his professional and academic background Luís offers a variety of skills and a heightened sense of responsibility and pride in his work. This work ethic and ability to multitask can be seen in his CV where Luís managed to work full time in the Air Force, study for a degree and work at night. Around 2006 Luís started working at CINCO lounge, and although he already was a barman, he discovered a new and intense “cocktail world” that didn’t exist before in Lisbon, or more widely in Portugal. Luís soon became CINCO lounge’s Head Bartender/Manager due to his responsible nature, excitement for continued learning, and impeccable working skills behind the bar. He also did some sideline work in bars/restaurants consulting. This in turn led to the birth of Black Pepper and Basil.
