College Counselor
Current● Collaborate & actively work with ~130 students & families in the college search and application process from across the country, with most families being from IL, SC, FL, TX, CA, WA, & MN. Includes but is not limited to:+ Conducting assessments to understand a student’s academic strengths, weaknesses, and goals, evaluate standardized test scores, transcripts, and extracurricular activities to determine a student's profile.+ Offering advice on standardized test preparation, including recommending resources and strategies forimproving test scores.+ Helping students research colleges thoroughly to create a balanced college list that aligns with theirsocial, academic, financial, and career preferences, ensuring they love every school on their list.+ Assisting students in developing a timeline & strategic approach to the college application process,including filling out applications, writing essays, and preparing resumes.+Collaborating with students and assigned essay coaches to ensure personal statements and supplemental essays are aligned with their values, academic, and professional aspirations and fostering authenticity and compelling narratives.● Host various college admission representative presentations (Drake University, Colorado State, Eckerd College, etc) & career & college exploration events.● Pursue ongoing professional development within the field, actively engaging in campus visits, participation in NACAC conferences& industry webinars, & attainment of relevant certifications to remain knowledgeable of evolving admissions trends & opportunities for students.● Highlights from class of 2024; students admitted to - Notre Dame, Penn State, Clemson, University of Wisconsin Madison, University of Tennessee, Northeastern, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, UT Austin, UNC Chapel Hill, Purdue, UVA, Howard, Texas A&M, University of Maryland, UMichigan, Boston University, University of Florida, Denison, UCLA, UCSB, UC Davis, UC Irvine, & so many more!
