Lead engineer in charge of building a data warehouse from the ground up. Engineered numerious ETL processes pulling merchant transaction data and company financial data into the warehouse. Data was transformed and populated into dimensional schemas and used for reporting creating a fully scalable and sustainable data solution for current and future data reporting needs.Key projects:• Built AWS Glue jobs orchestrated by Step and Lambda functions that ingested data from various internal and external sources and preformed ETL enabling the flow of data into a Redshift data lake environment. • Architected an incremental data solution that combined billions of rows of existing merchant transaction data and pushed new records daily into a single fact table eliminating the need for existing processes that were preforming full table reloads for select merchants only.• Reengineered several complex stored procedures essential to the organization’s financial reporting by simplifying logic and eliminating unnecessary components such as loops and replacing them with cross joins reducing runtimes by 85%.• Designed a custom merchant batch numbering system that assigned a value to a transaction record determined by data located in a separate source system. • Worked with internal stakeholders to create custom reporting extracts for high value merchants tailored to their organizational reporting needs.

Worked directly with stakeholders to understand business process reporting needs to create star schema data models. Built ETL packages that pulled source data into a data lake environment and developed stored procedures that transformed the data to populate fact and dimension tables.Key projects:• Designed and built an ETL process that pulled third party appraisal data through an API to track the milestone progress of an appraisal in the mortgage origination lifecycle.• Optimized ETL packages by creating hash values to use as primary keys to identify new records or to check against existing records for updated values.• Migrated large amounts of data from a legacy data warehouse and preformed regression testing to ensure data source changes and updated logic did not change report outputs. • Tuned older stored procedures by changing logic to populate the data more efficiently into target tables and measured success by observing a reduction in logical reads and writes.

Built Tableau dashboards to help identify trends and learn what variables correlate with student success or failure.
