As of 2024-08, I started a new 6 month contract at Apex Fintech Solutions (which may be extendible). I have just started looking for my next opportunity as of 2024-12-12 - though I intend to finish my contract which doesn't end until 2025-02-12 - and in the end I may have my contract extended. I strongly prefer permanent rather than contract and a more senior role (such as lead engineer, software architect, staff engineer) rather than senior software engineer. I am quite comfortable in the role of senior software engineer but will bring my breadth of experience to such an opportunity.I am a Software Designer and Implementer, Data Architect and Project Lead. I have been a Staff Engineer at two different companies (one as a Senior Staff Engineer). And a Software Architect at two companies (one as the Chief Software Architect). Experienced in creating and extending 24x7 service offerings as well as packaged software and internally focused software efforts. Particularly interested in architecting/designing/writing/shipping code that other people run and perhaps even pay for.I've worked in many languages (Java, SQL, HTML, BASH, C++, C, C#, Delphi, PHP, PERL, ColdFusion, TAL, SCOBOL, BASIC, 8088, COBOL, Pascal) and platforms (J2EE(JBoss), WebServices, Linux, WinXP, Solaris, HPUX, NT, Tandem Guardian, DOS) and databases (Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, SQLServer, MySQL, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, Enscribe).I am especially strong at greatly extending s/w products thru multiple releases, debugging, instrumenting applications, creating supportable services, building prioritized backlogs, writing SQL queries for unknown systems. I am particularly focused on data - the flow and structure of data is how I come up to speed on a new system as well as describe existing systems.I am most current with Java (with Spring Boot) and Cassandra, though I have been using Java (with Guice) and SQL in my current position.
