As the Neighborhood Revitalization Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity Omaha, I am driven by a profound passion for fostering positive change within the community and witnessing tangible transformations firsthand. Habitat for Humanity Omaha strives to combat systemic poverty by building generational wealth in marginalized communities in Omaha. I lead these efforts by organizing Transfer on Death Deed events throughout Omaha’s metropolitan area. I possess a deep interest in studying global conflicts, exploring third world countries, immersing in diverse world cultures, and fearlessly aiding individuals in dangerous regions. This has been my motivation for collaborating with an excellent team of researchers at the Nebraska Deterrence Lab. My areas of focus include the greater Middle East (MENA), as well as the global threats posed by non-state actors. I have cultivated a deep affection for the people of the Levant and Iraq through extensive travels, fostering a profound connection and understanding of their culture and community. My most profound experiences include attending a wedding a few kilometers from the southern Syrian border. I became close to an internally displaced family, while touring historical and spiritual sites, deep inside the state of Iraq. I also spent time in Palestinian refugee camps in south Beirut. It’s important to learn as much as you can from people around the world. The only way to truly understand a culture is if you meet them where they are. My experiences in the United States are just as meaningful as my time abroad. I was invited by the city of Omaha to attend a private meeting with the Vice President of South Sudan. I collaborated with the staff of a sitting U.S. congressman, assisting families in real-time, escape danger in Kabul, during America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. I was also invited to the U.S. Capitol to speak to staff members about my efforts during the rapid influx of Afghanistan refugees in America.
