Upon graduating high school, I immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. My services as a Culinary Specialist for submarines gave me a surprising amount of useful experience. Not only was I put in charge of preparing entire meals for over a hundred hungry crew members, but I was also given numerous collateral duties. Maintaining accurate records for audits, implementing a new inventory tracking system, ordering parts and maintenance for our operations. These were just some of the wide-ranging assignments that tested my versatility. After completing my service, and eventually my degree in Supply Chain Management, I moved on to my employment with the North Texas Food Bank. Starting in receiving, I worked my way up through the warehouse and, 3 years later, I am in a senior position for the operations department that oversees all logistics activities. Configuring our workflow management software, troubleshooting complex logistical issues, and leading some of my own projects are just a few of my daily tasks. I look forward to my next steps which will lead me in the direction of ERP systems and project management.
