Senior It Systems Officer (Storage)
• Undertaking planning for the implementation of computing policies and programs, ensuring the availability, reliability and scalability of storage services to address the needs of teaching, learning, research and administration.• Validating the current backup & storage solutions, preparing detailed design documentation, and reviewing or developing storage operational procedures.• Installing, maintaining and monitoring backup, storage and associated servers and systems according to technical specifications. • Working collaboratively across ITS and Flinders University in general to ensure positive outcomes, including any support that may be required for the effective operation of the teaching & learning, research or University administration areas, and assisting other team members when and where appropriate.• Ensuring the provision of operational support to agreed levels, identifying and rectifying faults within appropriate timelines and liaising and negotiating with vendors and third party suppliers to resolve technical issues.• Managing storage projects that satisfy client needs by: analyzing client requirements and developing project plans; preparing project and/or client documentation and writing technical specifications, ensuring that project outcomes are consistent with project objectives; and ensuring that projects are completed on time.• Benchmarking storage performance against other Universities and corporate organizations and establishing ‘best practice’ approaches for adoption by Server & Storage Services.• Ensuring operational procedures and work practices are proactively managed, that new documentation is developed as appropriate, and that current procedures and practices are fully documented and fit for purpose.
