Front-End Engineer
In this position, I was one of two developers hired to bring InCrowd's technology in-house from a third-party consulting firm. It was exciting to take over the codebase piece by piece, slowly making the entire project our own, and has been even more exciting to continually improve upon it from there. Our team has grown by five since those early days. I work closely with our UX person and other developers to provide new features that behave in a way both our internal and external users expect and desire, and I work closely with our QA support team to release bug fixes in a timely manner. In my opinion, it's always important to consider the broader implications of any new feature or bug fix, and to clearly know why we are making a particular decision.

I worked as a web developer to build new client-side features which were quickly integrated into the live site. Technologies used include Ruby on Rails, JQuery, Java-/CoffeeScript, HTML/Haml, SCSS, and SQL. The largest project I worked on was the Program Finder – Used Backbone.js and Mapbox.js to build a user-friendly client side feature for browsing study abroad programs. Unique page views went up 75%, Entrances went up 35%, and Bounces went down 20% (see Google Analytics for terms).
